AI concept image based on a supplied photograph. The scene and farmer are fictional; this is not a record of a visit or business relationship.
01 / BEYOND A NAME
There is more to a place than its name.
Learning the name of a spice opens a little more of the world. But a name and an origin can only tell us so much. Which season shapes it? What work goes into it? How do people use it where it grows?
We want to explore those questions through conversations with growers. Not just descriptions of aroma, but the ordinary details of their daily lives. That context belongs in our archive, too.
Supplied photograph / Kubota with a Brazilian acquaintance. This is not a photograph from an Indian farm visit.
02 / PEOPLE FIRST
One encounter. Another reason to be curious.
This photograph is from Kubota’s personal archive. It gives a human face to the approach we want for WSP: getting to know the world through people, rather than leaving it as an abstract place on a map.
Learning about someone’s everyday life can open a door to unfamiliar flavors and cultures. Those are the conversations we hope to build into our exploration of spices.
03 / OUR FIELD QUESTIONS
Questions for the next journey.
01 / THE LAND
What kind of place grows it?
The growing environment, the seasons, the moment of harvest. We want to understand the year through a grower’s eyes.
02 / THE CRAFT
How does its flavor take shape?
Harvesting, drying, sorting, storing. We want to document the work behind a single grain.
03 / THE EVERYDAY
How do you use it at home?
Everyday meals, family habits, local traditions. We want to ask about ordinary uses, not only special dishes.
NEXT / INDIA, NOVEMBER 2026
The record is still ahead.
A visit to Hyderabad is planned for November 2026. Specific farm visits and producer interviews have not been announced here. The people we meet, the words we hear, and what we can verify will become part of this archive.
